A house within a house? You got it. This is the incredible story of what happened when a banker and an antique book collector bought a historic, yellow brick house.

In the Pavilniai Regional Park, near the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius, a single bright-yellow building stood on the side of a hill. The new owners found out that the building was part of the cannon foundry and that it was built of valuable, historic Vilnius-made bricks. The park and city have a rich history with the oldest written records dating back to 1323. A large munitions factory on the site dates back to the 17th century and the Puckoriu escarpment in the park even has rare rock formations from the Ice Age!

The small, yellow brick house was not big enough for the family of four so what did they do? Demolish it? No. They hired architecture firm G.Natkevicius & Partners who decided to surrounded it with glass. The owners' antique library is now in the basement of the old brick house, the kids' rooms are on the ground floor, and the master bedroom is located on the top floor. As a stunning bonus, the residents now enjoy an amazing 360-degree view of the park.
